Krissy Ard

Krissy Ard

Coach

Bored at another gym, friends encouraged Krissy to try CrossFit. She has never looked back! A state ranked tennis player through high school, she elected to forgo a tennis career at UC Davis in order to focus on her social skills. She didn’t realize how much she missed competing until she found her home at Folsom Lake. Her coaches made such an impact on her when she started her CrossFit journey, she knew she ultimately wanted to follow down that path. She received her CrossFit Level One certification in January 2011 and has been coaching at Folsom Lake ever since. In addition, she is a certified personal trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Seeing a client’s face light up when they accomplish a goal or do something they never thought was possible is Krissy’s favorite part of being a coach. She is a firm believer in the CrossFit methodology and has witnessed the incredible results – both physical and mental – fostered through the family atmosphere of the CrossFit community. When she isn’t at Folsom Lake, Krissy is focused on her family. She is the proud wife to her husband Dave (another CrossFit addict) and mom to their two amazing boys, Ryan and Justin.

Coach

I have played ice hockey since I could walk, but I didn’t start lifting weights until I took a weight training course in college. I have always been tall, lanky, and athletic, but to see the changes I could create in my body through intelligent training programs and hard work drove me into fitness as a career. I am currently working towards my Teaching Credential in Physical Education with the goal of working with high school athletes. I worked for the Oakland Raiders for two years in football operations while getting my Masters in Sports Management from the University of San Francisco. I spent the next five years working as a personal trainer where I attained certifications from NASM, USA Weightlifting, and CrossFit. I have thousands of hours under my belt, working with professional athletes, sedentary people who have never stepped foot into a gym, and everyone in between. My clients have ranged from 100-365lbs, 12-88yrs old, and with a broad range of previous injury issues or movement compensations. So whether you have a knee, hip/back, or shoulder issue – or you just want to work on weightlifting technique and improve your metcon times, I can help you improve your fitness in the fastest, safest, and most efficient manner possible.

A little bit about myself. I played baseball my whole life. I was fortunate enough to earn a scholarship to the University of Hawaii, where I was a first team All-WAC pitcher. After graduating, I was introduced to Crossfit by my roommate. It was one of the best decisions I’ve made. As a former collegiate athlete, Crossfit taps into that competitive side that I still crave. I can honestly say I’m in better shape now then when I was playing in ball in college. As a trainer I’m hoping to help others achieve their goals. Whether it’s helping a former athlete keep their competitive spirit alive or someone who is just looking stay in shape and lead a healthier life. I’ve been doing Crossfit for almost 5 years now. I started at a small garage gym. Then I was fortunate to train at Crossfit 808 on Oahu for 2 years. At 808 I was able train with and under multiple Crossfit Games athletes. I’ve been at CFFL for almost 2 years now. I’m hoping to take what I’ve learned along the way and use my own experiences to help our members here at CFFL.
